I view every problem as an opportunity to be creative.

Artwork

My artwork is either a result of problem solving or pure obsession. When you don't have much to start with, you start creating with what you have.

This all started when I was living in a flooded home in Iowa, very pregnant and treading through water that came up to my belly button while making $7.25 an hour.

I had to come up with a lot of very creative ways to survive.

Art is creative fuel made relative.

From physical work to digital work! This "Christmas tree" was made with yarn and recycled fabrics. The background was edited to remove clutter and make the room look bigger. I obviously got better at this the second time around.

This background image doesn't belong to me. However... I made sure my children were edited into it.

Photo editing/ Photography.

I often find myself capturing those moments inbetween.

Fantasy photography and photo painting. (My daughter wanted to be the fairy of death... how was I supposed to say "no" to that!?)

Pure digital work. In 2018 I was gifted an iPad pro as part of a commission for a client. I created a web comic just for him and his family. Below is what I have permission to share. This ipad pro no longer works, but I still do what I can to expand my practice of digital art.

My first moment of chaos...and our first Christmas tree. We were unable to afford one back in 2019 after I bought my first stable home. But that wasn't going to stop me!

Gardening!

Part of my artwork comes from understanding how materials are made and where they come from. Believe it or not you can make paint or "ink" out of things in your own back yard. Paper can be made out of yard waste. So... since I've worked really hard on this garden please enjoy some photos.

Our first attempts at building trellises by hand.

We always cook a good meal with what we harvest.

The family.
